The Ukrainian government has once again turned its attention to the Ukrainian domain space. Volodymyr Seminozhenko, head of the State Committee on Science, Innovation, and Informatization, believes that the .GOV.UA domain should be state-owned and used for websites of government agencies and organizations. Seminozhenko proposed that the domain administrator involve government agencies, in particular the State Committee for Science, Innovation, and Information Technology, in domain management.
Seminozhenko proposed creating a joint venture. Its founders would be the Committee headed by Seminozhenko and the company Hostmaster.
Currently, the administrator of the .GOV.UA domain is a private individual, Oleksiy Balabushevich. Domain names are delegated free of charge, but only to websites of government agencies and "organizations that operate in accordance with Ukrainian law."
