Greenpeace demands that IT companies implement green energy

Greenpeace members protested against the activities of major internet companies, accusing them of inefficient energy use for data centers and cloud services.

Amazon claims that cloud services have a positive impact on energy use "by definition," because "instead of each company building its own data center, cloud customers can avoid that. This leads to much higher levels of recycling and waste elimination."

Many large companies, such as Facebook and Apple, are converting their data centers to renewable energy.
