Hackers don't use sophisticated attack methods.

Analysts from research company Verizon reported in their report that hackers most often use traditional methods to attack users and companies' websites. Companies, in turn, neglect basic security measures.

According to a Verizon report, 80% of hacker attacks involved random users.

Security experts found that in 2011, for the first time in the world, the number of attacks by hacker groups exceeded the number of attacks by individual hackers specializing in the theft of financial or personal data.

Moreover, most attacks do not require hackers to have special skills or resources – more than 96% of attacks were not difficult for hackers to carry out.

And 97% of attacks could have been avoided simply by following traditional security measures. For example, such measures include using a firewall.

According to Verizon, the majority of targeted attacks last year targeted large companies in the financial and insurance sectors.
