Anonymous hackers prefer DDoS attacks and SQL injections

According to research conducted by Imperva, hackers from the Anonymous group most often use DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks and SQL injections for their actions.

These types of attacks, according to experts, are relatively cheap hacking methods, but they allow for large-scale attacks.

Experts have concluded that hackers first try to steal the data they need, and if that fails, they resort to a DDoS attack.

Analysts have developed a plan for how a hacker group will carry out attacks. The hackers first gather volunteers to participate in the attack, then conduct reconnaissance, and only then launch the DDoS attack.

To coordinate their actions, hackers use social services such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

According to Imperva experts, experienced hackers make up only a small portion of the group. Experienced specialists most often participate in reconnaissance and conduct test attacks on applications. Inexperienced newcomers participate only in the final stage of the operation—the DDoS attack, which is carried out when access to the desired data has failed through other means.

Hackers have also developed their own cybercrime toolkit—the Low Orbit Ion Cannon (LOIC) app, which enables attacks. Anonymous hackers have also created a tool that allows DDoS attacks to be launched from mobile browsers.
