ICANN delegated the new .SX domain

The ICANN Board of Directors voted to delegate the new .SX domain. This domain is intended for the autonomous island state of Sint Maarten, which was formed after the split of the Netherlands Antilles.

SX Registry became the domain administrator. The domain delegation was scheduled to occur this summer.

Experts believe that the .SX domain could become a competitor to the new .XXX domain and be used for websites of companies operating in the adult entertainment industry.

The two other countries formed after the dissolution of the Antilles (AN) are also expected to receive their own top-level domains. The .AN domain will cease to exist by October 2014.
