An application for delegation of the .РУС domain has been submitted to ICANN.

Registrar Webnames.ru, together with the Russian-Language Internet Center and the Ukrainian Network Information Center (USIC), sent a letter to ICANN proposing the delegation of the Cyrillic root domain .РУС. This domain would be intended for use by the global Russian-speaking community.

The letter expresses support for ICANN's efforts to expand the top-level domain space. Therefore, these three organizations want to obtain their own top-level domain dedicated to the promotion of the Russian language and culture.

The letter's authors emphasize that the .РУС domain name fully complies with all ICANN requirements and does not overlap with other domain names, which is why they hope to receive such a domain.
