ICANN Releases New gTLD Applicant Guidebook

ICANN has published the new, eighth version of the New Top-Level Domain Applicant Guidebook.

The document states that applications for new top-level domain zones can be submitted until March 29, 2012.

The document also specifies "reserved" domain names that cannot be applied for. These include approximately 40 spelling variations of words associated with the Olympic movement and the Red Cross.

However, it is not yet known how ICANN will contest applications for new domains.
