ICANN Accelerates .XXX Domain Launch

The ICANN Council adopted a resolution that will allow ICM Registry to move closer to launching registrations in the .XXX domain zone. However, analysts note that the launch of registrations is not imminent; many organizational and technological issues still need to be resolved.

The ICANN resolution mandated that ICM Registry handle .XXX registrations. The company must submit registration rules for the .XXX domain zone for public comment within 30 days.

Following the close of the public comment period, ICM Registry shall submit to the ICANN Board a list of comments and recommendations regarding changes to the initial registration rules.
