Online auction Sedo has released its latest study of the domain market.

Sedo, an online domain name auction company, has released the results of its domain market research for the second quarter of 2011. The research showed continued growth in sales of domains registered in .CO.UK.

At the Sedo auction, 10.6 thousand domain names were resold during the second quarter of 2011, and the revenue from sales amounted to 2 million pounds sterling.

There was a perception that the launch of new gTLDs would negatively impact the secondary domain market. However, Sedo's report refuted this notion. In the second quarter, the company's revenue from sales on the secondary domain market increased by 13%. Therefore, it can be concluded that buyers remain interested in attractive domains. Businesses are interested in purchasing domains with keywords in the name to expand their online reach.

In addition, the report states that:

• The majority of domain sales (around 60%) were for £500 each or less, with only 4% of sales being for domains over £5,000. This suggests that keyword-rich domains are still available at reasonable prices.

• The most expensive geographic domains are those of France and Spain. The average transaction price for .FR domains was £661, while for .ES domains it was £615.

The most expensive domains according to the results of the second quarter of 2011 were the following:

Gambling.com - $2.5 million

WelnessFinder.com – 300,000 euros

DataCenter.com - $352,000

Consolidation.com - $220 thousand

Billionaire.com - $215,000

Mai.com – 80 thousand euros

Navidad.com - $100,000
