IPv6: Facts and Figures

In honor of World IPv6 Day, we present some interesting facts and figures related to the new IPv6 protocol. Interestingly, analysts cite one of the reasons for the IP address shortage:active growth of mobile Internet

In early February 2011, the last five blocks of IPv4 addresses were allocated. This date can be considered the beginningnew generation Internet, although last year it was predicted that IPv4 addresses would run outat the end of May 2011.

Discussions on a new Internet protocol were actively underway at the ICANN conference.in December last year.

If at the beginning of the year the share of IPv6 traffic wasless than 1% of total network traffic, then in May this figure wasabout 10%.

Meanwhile, security experts note some difficulties associated with the implementation of IPv6, in particular, it is overly complexspam filtering.
