World IPv6 Day is being prepared for June again.

At the beginning of June this year, the Internet community is preparing to hold the so-called World IPv6 Day – the day of transition to the IPv6 protocol.

On this day, the world's largest websites will enable IPv6 routing support.

However, this year, global portals will not disable support for the new version of the Internet Protocol, but will instead maintain it permanently. This means that sites will support both IPv6 and IPv4 protocols simultaneously. Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Facebook, Cisco, as well as the world's largest content providers, Akamai and Limelight, have pledged their support for the new initiative.

Furthermore, many providers have also announced plans to enable IPv6, including Comcast and AT&T in the US, Free Telecom in France, XS4ALL in the Netherlands, and others. Meanwhile, telecommunications equipment manufacturer Cisco, its subsidiary Linksys, and D-Link will include IPv6 support in all new products.

The organizers of the campaign emphasize that the internet community has no choice but to support the new protocol. Currently, Google, Yahoo, and Facebook portals are accessible in both IPv6 and IPv4 address spaces, with IPv6/IPv4 traffic accounting for 1% versus 99%.
