What are the most popular domains?

NIC.UA turned 10 years old, and during this time, we've become one of the largest domain registrars in Ukraine. As of early June, 268,780 users had registered on the site. We've divided the domains our customers order into groups and created an infographic. Here's the latest domain statistics in Ukraine!

The most popular domains are .COM and .COM.UA, accounting for 48%. Names in these zones are considered authoritative and universal, although co.ua also corresponds to these domains in meaning (COM and CO are short for "commercial").

A quarter of registered domains are Ukrainian general-purpose domains and the capital's .kiev.ua. They are cheaper than COM.UA and are gradually growing in popularity.

gTLDs, or generic domains, accounted for only 6.41% of our statistics. This,for example, domainsNET, ORG, INFO. It's important to note that COM.UA is also a gTLD, but it's included separately in the infographic.

Country code domains or ccTLDs— for example, the domains UA, UK, and FR. It's worth noting that UA accounts for a full 60% of all such domains. It's popular even though a trademark is required for its registration.

Cyrillic domains are becoming increasingly common, currently accounting for 2% of the total. New gTLDs are still lagging behind, despite the rise in popularity of XYZ after it was registered by Alphabet.
