Kazakhstan also wants its own Cyrillic domain zone
Today, the Ministry of Communications and Information of Kazakhstan submitted an application to ICANN to register the .КАЗ domain extension. This domain extension is intended for registering names using the Kazakh alphabet. Domain registration for the government and the presidential administration has already begun.
At the same time, Kazakhstan plans to open second-level domains intended for government organizations, educational institutions, commercial organizations, and non-profit projects.
Trademark or trademark holders may apply for domain name registration. Such applications must be submitted no later than March 1, 2010. The fee for priority domain registration in such cases is $68.
