The number of mobile patent lawsuits is growing by 25% every year.

Experts at Lex Machina, a firm specializing in patent litigation, noted that the number of lawsuits over mobile technology patents has been steadily increasing over the past five years, growing by approximately 25% annually.

In the last month of summer alone, nearly 300 lawsuits were filed over such patents, many of which are related in some way to Apple.

Over the past year, Apple has filed numerous lawsuits against HTC, Motorola, Samsung, and other Android smartphone makers, and has also been the target of patent trolls.

There are currently about a hundred such cases pending against Apple. Motorola ranks second in terms of patent lawsuits, currently involved in 38.

Experts believe that the flow of patent disputes will decrease as a result of a major reform of the patent system.
