GoDaddy customers hit by phishing scam

GoDaddy announced the results of its investigation into the hacking of its customers' accounts. Several days ago, it was reported that approximately 400 websites had been hacked, and when users attempted to view them, they were redirected to servers containing malicious code.

As a result of the hack, the hackers installed redirect settings by modifying the .htaccess files used for authentication and inserting their own code. However, the company discovered that redirects for the hacked sites were only applied when users accessed the sites through search engines.

GoDaddy explained that such attacks are carried out by exploiting vulnerabilities in outdated versions of content management systems. However, in this case, hackers compromised GoDaddy's software through a large-scale phishing attack.
