The standardization committee has submitted an application for a new WiMax standard.

The new version of the WiMax 802.16m wireless communications standard will be approved in March of this year, after which the first devices based on the new standard will appear within the next year.

The new standard ensures faster data transmission. The new version of the standard will allow more frequencies to be placed in a single channel, increasing bandwidth.

This increase in bandwidth will allow for the transmission of significantly more data. Furthermore, the new standard is more secure, making it more difficult to determine a user's physical location, and network devices consume significantly less power.

The new WiMax 802.16m wireless standard is reported to be backward compatible with the classic 802.16e, which appeared back in 2005.
