The company "Avtomarket.ru" won a lawsuit over the rights to the "Avto.rf" domain.

The Moscow Arbitration Court ruled that the domain name "Auto.RF" will be registered to the company that registered the name as a media outlet two years ago.

According to Ru-Center, a record 562 applications were submitted for this domain. Previously, domain names had attracted no more than 300 applications. However, in November, the domain was removed from auction due to legal proceedings. Anton Sergo, a representative for the plaintiff, explained that in January 2008, his client, Avtomarket.ru LLC, registered the media outlet Avto.RF. This occurred before the introduction of the .RF domain and the commencement of priority registration. In 2010, Avtomarket.ru applied for registration of this domain under the Priority Registration Regulations.

The company was unable to register the domain, even though its application met all the requirements. The registrar refused to register the domain because its registration was prohibited at the time by the Coordination Center due to another lawsuit. The Coordination Center for National Internet Domain and the Technical Center Internet also participated in the case. As a result, on January 25, 2011, the Moscow Arbitration Court recognized Avtomarket.ru's right to the Avto.RF domain name and ordered the defendant to register the Avto.RF domain name in the plaintiff's name.

Today, the fate of many .РФ domains registered through auction remains unknown. Earlier this year, the Commission for the Study of the Current Situation with the Opening of Domain Name Registration in the .РФ TLD advised the Council of the Coordination Center for TLD RU-CENTER to cancel the registration of all domains listed for auction by the registrar RU-CENTER.
