The prototype on display can scan 10 billion files in a single file system in just 43 minutes. IBM's previous development allowed the company to scan 1 billion files in 3 hours. This means the new version's performance has been increased 37-fold.

These types of systems are in demand by companies with large IT infrastructures that require processing large numbers of files. In this case, all data is divided into several independent subsystems.

IBM first demonstrated the General Parallel File System (GPFS) cluster file system in 1998. Today, this system is optimized for modern 8-core processors.
