R01 launches Whois history search service

Russian domain registrar R01 has launched a free service.WhoisHistoryThis service makes it easy to find out who previously owned a particular domain name—practically from the moment it was registered.

Users can search for domains by registration expiration date or domain name release date. WhoisHistory also allows you to find out how many domains belong to a given legal entity. Domain search is available to all users, but advanced search requires additional free registration with Nicid.ru.

Initially, the service will only work with the .RU, .SU, and .РФ domain zones, but in the future, it is planned to make it available for generic top-level domains such as .COM, .NET, .ORG, and others.

The WhoisHistory service works with the WhoisHistory and IPHistory databases of the oldest accredited Russian domain registrars R01 and RU-CENTER, which contain information about changes to domain data and DNS records obtained from open .
