Verizon to sue cybersquatters
American mobile operator Verizon Wireless has filed a lawsuit against domain name registrar Parked.com.
The registrar will be held accountable for the illegal registration of approximately 600 domains. These domain names contain the Verizon company name or trademarks associated with the mobile operator.
Verizon Wireless's lawsuit claims that Parked.com placed advertisements on these domains. This, according to the company, means Parked.com profited illegally from the use of Verizon-related trademarks. Furthermore, Verizon Wireless claims that the defendant posted links to malicious resources on these websites.
Among the disputed domain names are such names as 2Verizon.net, 3Verizon.net, AccessriesForVerizon.com.
The lawsuit demands that Verizon pay $100,000 for each infringing domain.
