WhoIs data was discussed at the ICANN conference

During the ICANN conference in Singapore, a separate session was devoted to the accuracy of data posted in the WhoIs service.

A preliminary study concluded that 23% of registrant information published in WhoIs is inaccurate. Therefore, the issue of registrar client identification has become a pressing issue, which, according to market participants, should be formalized at the ICANN level.

However, a contrary opinion was also expressed, according to which 23% is not a figure that requires changes to the domain registration rules.
