The Coordination Center published a report on its activities in the first half of the year.

The Coordination Center for the National Internet Domain has publishedreporton activities in the first quarter of 2011.

According to the report, at the end of the first half of the year, there were 3.3 million domain names in the .RU domain. This is 1.6% higher than planned. During the first half of the year, the number of names in the .RU domain increased by 202,000, or 6.5%. The year-earlier growth rate was 13.3%.

In 2010, the growth of the .RU domain in the first six months

amounted to 339,133 domain names or +13.3% for the period from January 1 to June 30, 2011.

According to the results of the first half of 2011, there were 855,000 names in the .РФ domain, which is 19% higher than the previous year. Over the first six months of 2011, the number of .РФ domains increased by 155,000, or 22%.

Overall, the Russian domain space grew by 357 thousand domains (+ 9.3%) in the first half of 2011.

The Coordination Center's primary focus in the first half of 2011 was improving and standardizing the rules for registering domain names in the .RU and .РФ domains. Once all development stages are completed, the draft new rules will be presented to the general internet community for review.
