The Coordination Center tested the operation of international domain names for modern software

Coordination Center for the National Internet Domaintested the correct display of international domain names (IDNs) in modern browsers, operating systems, and email clients.

The testing involved the Windows 7 operating system, Internet Explorer 8 browser, Microsoft Outlook 2007 email clients and services, Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, as well as the Windows XP/Windows Vista platforms and applications included with them.

Test results showed that Internet Explorer browsers are fully prepared for the launch of the Cyrillic domain .РФ. Some issues arise when using email clients.

Previously, the Coordination Center for TLD RU conducted similar testing for Firefox, Safari, and Opera browsers. The results showed that these browsers correctly handle displaying IDNs.

ICANN conducts similar tests from time to time. However, in this case, international domains in eleven languages are tested, including Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Greek, and others.
