Kaspersky Lab accused of domain hijacking

The accusation was brought by representatives of the website Virusinfo.info. In fact, the disputed domain was transferred to Kaspersky Lab several years ago.

Representatives of the Virusinfo.info website stated that Kaspersky Lab employees "invaded the portal's internal affairs, thereby violating the initial agreements made when transferring rights to the project." Following this, the VirusInfo community decided to revoke all rights to the resource, its content, and the domain in favor of a representative of the VirusInfo administration.

The Virusinfo.info administration attempted to reclaim the domain they had paid for themselves. The dispute arose because the site was transferred to Kaspersky Lab under the condition that it would not interfere with the community's internal affairs or engage in censorship.

Kaspersky Lab paid the site administrators, who were recruited from among the forum's activists. However, the company became dissatisfied with the administrator's performance and subsequently fired him. The forum moderators, who also failed to perform their duties, suffered the same fate.

Following these incidents, dismissed administrators and moderators began to talk about illegal domain seizure and even attempted to change the domain name's contact information.

Whois data indicates that the domain belongs to Kaspersky Lab, but the project's previous owners continue to fight over the domain and resource.
