Mail.Ru is recognized as a well-known trademark.

January 18, 2009, Moscow. The Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents, and Trademarks (Rospatent) officially recognized the Mail.Ru (www.mail.ru) trademark as well-known in the Russian Federation. This places the company on par with such brands as Intel, Coca-Cola, Nescafe, Gazprom, and Tiffany.

Today, there are only 85 well-known trademarks in Russia, owned by the largest Russian and international corporations - Heineken, Nike, Lipton, Wimm-Bill-Dann, Lukoil, Disney, etc.

Possession of this status not only confirms the truly nationwide popularity of a company's brand but also serves as a powerful defense against illegal use and reproduction of the trademark by third parties. It's worth noting that the legal protection of a well-known trademark is valid indefinitely.

"Mail.Ru's recognition as a well-known trademark is significant not only from a legal perspective, but also as yet another significant recognition of our achievements. We've managed to become one of the most popular and beloved brands nationwide in a very short time, ranking alongside companies that have been around for decades. I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the millions of our users who use Mail.Ru services and recommend them to their friends – it's thanks to them that we've achieved such success," said Dmitry Grishin, CEO of Mail.Ru.
