Antivirus company McAfee has identified the most dangerous domain zones in the world.

According to a McAfee report, the Chinese domain leads the world in terms of the number of dangerous websites: approximately 58% of websites in the .VN domain are infected with viruses. Some of these websites are even designed to distribute malware. Visiting such websites can lead to data loss, theft of private information from computers, and other problems.

McAfee specialists analyzed a total of 27 million websites. Of these, 6.2% were infected, compared to just 5.9% last year.

Interestingly, in 2009, the Vietnamese domain extension didn't even rank among the top in terms of infection rates. This is because many cybercriminals moved their websites to this domain extension that year due to its low registration costs. Furthermore, the registration process for this domain extension is relatively simple—registrants are not required to provide official documents.

The second most dangerous site is the .INFO domain zone, where malicious activity has increased by 94.5% over the past year. Fake websites are often registered in this domain zone, which are then used in phishing attacks.

In addition, the list of the most dangerous domain zones included .CM, AM, CC.

The Russian .RU domain zone ranked fifth on the list of the most dangerous, with approximately 10% of websites infected. A year ago, the percentage of infected resources here was 4.6%.

The Japanese domain zone .JP turned out to be the safest, with less than 1% of websites infected there.
