Microsoft takes control of the HTML5.com domain name

Back in January, the HTML5.com domain redirected users to Apple's website. Now, nine months later, this domain redirects visitors to Microsoft's "beautyoftheweb.com."

Even though Whois records indicate this domain name is protected by a proxy, rumors claim it's actually recently owned by Microsoft. Furthermore, when entering the address HTML5.com, visitors are immediately redirected to Microsoft's website "beautyoftheweb.com," a website that launched with Internet Explorer 9.

When the domain name belonged to Apple, when attempting to open the site, users were redirected to an Apple site that demonstrated HTML5 examples of how the technology was used.
