Microsoft will receive licensing royalties from LG.

Microsoft has signed an agreement with LG Electronics. This agreement provides for the licensing of each other's patent portfolios. This means that the Korean company will pay Microsoft royalties for the technologies it uses, patents for which the corporation owns.

The terms of the agreement stipulate that LG Electronics will be able to use Microsoft technologies in its tablets, smartphones, and other gadgets. These devices run Android and Chrome OS.

Microsoft receives similar royalties from other Android device manufacturers, including Samsung, HTC, and Aces.

Experts estimate that Microsoft will receive royalties from 70% of Android devices shipped to the American market.
