Microsoft to gain rights to domains containing the word "Bing"

Microsoft has secured the rights to seven domain names that use the word "Bing." The company has been using the Bing search engine name since 2009, when the service launched and the company received a registered trademark of the same name. The company, in turn, registered the domain name bing.com back in 1996.

These seven domains came under Microsoft's control after two complaints from the corporation to the National Arbitration Forum.

Here is a list of the disputed domains: bingauto.us, bingcar.us, bingcars.us, binghome.us, as well as bingcars.net, bingauto.net and binghomes.net.

Microsoft's complaint claims these domain names are identical or confusingly similar to the Bing trademark. The defendant, however, argued that it did not attempt to evoke associations with the word Bing or use any symbols or other materials on its websites resembling Microsoft's search engine.
