Microsoft continues to sue over the windows.ru domain.

A Moscow court will hear Microsoft's appeal of the Moscow Arbitration Court's decision, which partially upheld the company's claim against the owner of the windows.ru domain for the protection of exclusive rights to the Windows trademark.

A previous court upheld Microsoft's right to use the Windows trademark for a number of products. Accordingly, the owner of the windows.ru domain cannot use the Windows trademark solely for this class of products. Microsoft was not satisfied with this court ruling.

Dmitry Shapovalov, the owner of the windows.ru domain, acquired the rights to the windows.ru domain name in 1998 and used it to sell plastic windows. After selling his business, he agreed with the buyer not to use the domain for a similar business until September 2012.

Microsoft believes that Shapovalov cannot use domains with the word Windows.
