The US Department of Commerce will create a new system for authorizing Internet users.

The US Department of Commerce is set to begin developing a new authorization verification system.

As a reminder, authentication on a PC or the internet typically requires entering a username and password. Many usernames are already taken, and using duplicate passwords is not recommended. Therefore, without the use of support services, users would quickly forget some of their usernames and passwords.

Commerce Department experts are aware that criminals often exploit people's habits of using common words or names as passwords. They say the new identification system will help reduce the number of hacks.

The ministry proposed implementing identification using a digital token, smart card, fingerprint, or other method. After logging in, the user will have access to all websites that support the new system, and to do so, they must find an organization that provides such capabilities. The user will be able to choose their own identification methods and devices. It is also stated that the system will not be under government control.
