Muscovites are unsure about the need to delegate city domains.

RU-CENTER, in conjunction with the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, completed a vote on the implementation of the .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА top-level domains. Approximately 15,000 people participated in the vote. Only 53.4% ​​of participants supported the creation of the .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА top-level domains, while 46.6% opposed them.

Supporters of the initiative to introduce domains for the capital believe that Moscow should stand out in the internet domain space, and therefore delegating special domains for it is a completely sound and interesting idea.

Opponents believe that Moscow already has a certain exclusive status and the introduction of a special domain for the city is not necessary.

Let us recall that other world capitals, including London, Paris, Berlin, New York, and Tokyo, have also applied for their own top-level domain zones.

Registering such a domain zone will cost the capital's budget $158,000 per domain zone. This amount is required for submitting an application to ICANN.

RU-CENTER believes that if the domain delegation for the Russian capital is successful, similar domain zones could be launched for other cities across the country.
