Motorola accuses Apple of patent infringement

Motorola has filed patent infringement lawsuits against Apple and filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Motorola claims Apple has infringed its patents in numerous products, including the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Mac computers, as well as in the creation of its MobileMe and App Store services.

The patents in question cover 18 core communications technologies created long before Apple devices were developed, covering antenna design, wireless email, application management, and LBS.

These Motorola patents relate to wireless communications technologies, antenna design, email transmission systems, and application management. Motorola is demanding an injunction banning further sales of Apple devices.

Patent disputes have intensified recently, with the most notorious case being the Apple-Nokia dispute, which began a year ago.

Motorola's claims are the third lawsuit filed against Apple by a competitor in the past year.
