The Mozilla Foundation won a lawsuit against a Russian company over the Firefox trademark.

The Patent Disputes Chamber panel upheld the Mozilla Foundation's complaint and took away the Firefox trademark from the Russian company SaleNames.

The Russian company did not use the Russian trademark, which it has owned since 2008. However, the company owns the firefox.ru domain, which is still home to the SalesNames website.

SaleNames registered the domain firefox.ru in 2005, filed an application for the Firefox trademark in 2006, and registered it in April 2008.

The decision of the Patent Disputes Chamber Board stated that its employees attempted to locate representatives of SaleNames, but the letters did not reach them.

At the same time, company representatives claim that they were not notified of Mozilla's claims.

Now the Mozilla Foundation can register the Firefox trademark in Russia and claim the firefox.ru domain.
