Mozilla, the creator of the Firefox browser, has decided to replace the popular OpenID registration system with a new one called BrowserID.

One of the main features of BrowserID will be improved data protection.

The general principles of BrowserID are almost identical to those of OpenID. The new system will allow you to log in to different websites without having to enter your username and password each time.

Mozilla promises that this system will ensure high security and data privacy. To use the system, users enter an email address and password. Multiple email addresses can be linked to a single account. BrowserID uses public-key cryptography (Verified Email Protocol) to verify email addresses. The verification process is performed only once, after which the address can be used to log in to websites.

Furthermore, the system's developers emphasize that BrowserID does not send back to the server information about the websites visited by users.
