ICANN 42nd Conference has begun.

The 42nd ICANN meeting opened in Dakar, Senegal. The main topic addressed at the meeting was the implementation of new gTLDs.

Opening the conference, ICANN President Rod Beckstrom emphasized that the New gTLD program is not only intended for wealthy countries and commercial organizations. Developing countries and cultural and linguistic communities are also interested in such domains.

ICANN is developing a support program for new domain name applicants, offering technical and financial assistance. Through this program, ICANN will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to obtain a top-level domain.

Beckstrom believes that the introduction of IDNs and the New gTLD program can ensure true diversity in new domains and the development of content in national languages.

The conference will last until October 29.
