The national domain of Kazakhstan will be .КАЗ
ICANN has approved the string "KAZ" as an extension to Kazakhstan's national IDN domain. This means that Kazakhstan has passed the string evaluation process.
This procedure is one of the stages of delegating a new domain. Kazakhstan's final approval of its IDN domain will only be confirmed after the country completes the other stages of domain approval in its national language.
Please note that when submitting requests for IDN domain allocation, a number of requirements must be met:
• the font used to represent the IDN ccTLD must be non-Latin;
• the language used for an IDN ccTLD must be the official language of the relevant country or territory
• a certain set of technical requirements must be met (assessed by experts).
The process of submitting a request and its evaluation consists of three stages:
1. Preparation by the applicant. This involves establishing internet community consensus regarding the IDN being applied for, demonstrating which organization will manage the new IDN, and preparing and collecting all necessary supporting documents.
2. String Evaluation. Requests to ICANN are evaluated according to the criteria described above: these include the technical and linguistic requirements for the IDN root domain. Applications received through the online system are available for review, as are additional materials related to the process.
3. String Delegation. If the domain zone evaluation criteria are successfully met, then an application for domain zone delegation is permitted. It will undergo the same review process by ICANN and IANA as root domains based on the standard ASCII code. The domain zone delegation process is submitted to the IANA root zone management organization for review.
