How to set up a domain using a redirect

Setting up a domain via redirect is easy. This method is suitable for pointing a domain to a social media page or a Github project.In this post, we'll show you how to set up a redirect, using the domain infonic.pp.ua as an example. We'll point it to our blog, info.nic.ua.

Step 1.Order nameservers for your domain if you don't have them yet. This can be done from the website's section.nic.ua"Name Servers" or from the same section in your personal account.The first 3 months of nameservers are free and they will be extended free fordomains, which are serviced by NIC.UA.

Step 2.In the domain settings, under "Name Servers," select "NIC.UA Name Servers" and click "Edit NS." Then click "Configure DNS Records."

If you're setting up a redirect for the domain itself, create a record named @. Before doing this, make sure there aren't any other records named @ of any type other than MX. If there are, delete them first and click "Save."

Add a new @ record. Select the redirect type:

— A permanent redirect or temporary redirect will redirect you to the desired website, and you will see the website domain in the browser line.

— With a redirect with frame, you'll see your domain in the browser's address bar. You can specify your own Title for this type of redirect.

Include the subdomain itself in the post name. I'm using "website" because I'm pointing the subdomain to an article about our new website. The post looks like this:

Here I selected Permanent redirect. Now the domain website.infonic.pp.ua points to my article about the site. I clicked save—if there are no errors, everything should work soon.
