NIC.UA now supports IPv6.
NIC.UA offers IPv6 support for domain names. The company's clients can now specify an AAAA record in their domain name settings, configuring their domains to use IPv6. NIC.UA's DNS servers are accessible via both IPv4 and IPv6. Therefore, domain names registered through NIC.UA will be able to work on the "new version of the World Wide Web."
IP addresses of the new version 6 will soon become as familiar and widely used as the version 4 IP addresses we are now accustomed to seeing. However, for a domain name to contain this new type of IP address, it requires the appropriate support, namely, an "AAAA" record in the domain name settings (the old version of IP addresses were specified in an "A" record).
The transition to IPv6 will begin in "World IPv6 Day" - June 8, 2011, when the largest online resources will add "AAAA" records to their domains. Before this date, it is not recommended to add IPv6 addresses, but it is necessary to test your domains and ensure that your internet service provider is ready to work with the new version of internet addressing.
The company's clients can begin testing and configuring AAAA records in their domains now, ensuring they are prepared and ready to take advantage of the new protocol's capabilities. NIC.UA is currently the only domain registrar in Ukraine that supports the IPv6 protocol.
