New rules for registration in the .РФ domain zone will come into effect on November 11.

The Coordination Center for TLD RU has amended the Domain Registration Rules for the .РФ domain zone. These new rules will take effect on November 11, the first day of open registration for the .РФ domain.

According to the new rules, registration of domains in the .РФ zone is permitted only to citizens of the Russian Federation, legal entities registered in accordance with Russian legislation, and foreign legal entities with a separate subdivision within the Russian Federation.

In addition, the right to administer a domain name registered between November 11, 2010 and November 10, 2011 cannot be transferred to another person for one year from the date of registration.

The price of domain names in the .РФ zone is not regulated by the Rules; the price of a domain name is determined by market players – registrars.

The new version of the Rules for Registration of Domain Names in the .РФ domain has expanded the clause on user liability for possible violations of third-party rights related to the selection and registration of a domain name: "In order to prevent possible violations, the user is advised to ensure, before submitting an application, that there are no identical or similar trademarks, trade names, other intellectual property objects, as well as other designations, names, and titles, the use of which is regulated by the legislation of the Russian Federation and other intellectual property objects" (clause 2.7).
