Cloud services are not yet being implemented

A Cisco survey conducted at the recent Cisco Expo 2010 forum found that more than 90% of users are confident in the usefulness of cloud services.

Survey respondents identified the key business trends that will impact data centers over the next three years. These include the increasing number of applications and data volumes (71% of respondents), the need to reduce costs (44%), security risk management (40%), the increased use of video and collaboration technologies (36%), and the increasing number of mobile or remote workers (31%).

The main trends that will influence the development of data centers by 2013 will be: virtualization of data processing centers (63%), mobile access of employees to information (46%), cloud computing (28%), desktop virtualization (25%).

Among cloud applications, experts name email (60%), business applications (55%), web meetings and conferences (54%), office applications (40%) and calendar (23%) as the most necessary.

However, only 15% of companies currently use cloud-based applications. 17% plan to implement cloud computing by migrating existing on-premises applications to the cloud.
