Occupy domains have taken over the Internet.
The internet is seeing a surge in domain registrations featuring the word "occupy." Over the past two months, more than 5,000 new domain names have been registered and previously registered ones have been sold. Among them are such exotic names as "occupy Hollywood" and "occupy space." Other popular names include "occupy Chicago," "occupy Boston," and "occupy me."
In the first nine months of this year, 80 domains containing the word "occupy" were registered, and in the last two months, more than 5,000.
The popularity of the word "occupy" is linked to the Occupy Wall Street movement. The popularity of such domains reflects global trends in the domain industry.
Experts note that making money on such domains is quite difficult.
