A report on the development of the ORG domain has been published.

In the second half of 2009, the number of registered names in the ORG domain zone increased by 14%. The total number of domains increased by 3.5%. At the beginning of 2010, there were 8 million domains in this domain zone.

The growth rate of the ORG domain zone is comparable to the growth of other gTLD domain zones – COM and NET.

Currently, in terms of the number of registrations, the ORG domain zone ranks third among all general-purpose domain zones.

The share of domain renewals in ORG was at 74%;

This domain zone is most often used to host websites of charitable resources (3%), healthcare organizations (4%), religious organizations (4%), schools (6%), as well as sports organizations (18%), hobby clubs (6%) and social networks (13%).

Recently, organizations whose activities are related to ecology and environmental protection have been actively registering in this domain zone.

The United States is the largest region for ORG domains, accounting for 72% of all domain names. Germany ranks second in terms of geographical distribution, accounting for 6% of names in this domain zone. The United Kingdom accounts for 5% of websites, and Canada and France account for 4%.
