The first major domain deal of 2011

NetIncome Ventures Inc. sold the GamesForGirls.com domain on Sedo for $500,000. This transaction is currently considered the largest on the secondary market in 2011. A week ago, the websitehosting.com domain was sold for $190,000.

The price tag for the three-syllable domain GamesForGirls.com may seem surprising. However, this combination of words used in the domain is searched by 9.2 million people worldwide, and 2.3 million locally. Furthermore, the domain name itself receives approximately 43,000 visitors per month.

As a reminder, the largest transaction last year was the sale of the Sex.com domain for $13 million. In second place in the Top 10 secondary market in 2010 was the FB.com domain, for which the owners of the social network Facebook paid $8.5 million. In third place was the Slots.com domain, which sold for $5.5 million.
