Why your domains will always work

The domains you register with us are stored in the cloud. This is why they weren't affected by the seizure of our equipment in April. In this article, we explain the technical means that ensure the smooth operation of your domains.

As you already know fromarticles about websites and domainsDomain name requests (DNS queries) are handled by dedicated name servers. Our name servers are located in various countries around the world, and our technical infrastructure ensures fault tolerance against various attacks.

Name servers around the world

Our name servers are hosted simultaneously on dozens of different servers, combined into a single cloud around the world: in Ukraine, several US states, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, and other countries, the list of which is subject to change.

Thanks to cloud technology, name server capacity can be automatically increased as needed, helping to combat potential attacks. This is achieved both by dynamically increasing the number of servers and by upgrading the capacity of existing ones.

Our name servers are decentralized. This means there is no single master server that could compromise the entire infrastructure. Furthermore, the locations of some servers are not publicly known, making them impossible to attack.

How are your domains protected from DDoS attacks?

The DNS system works in such a way that if one of the servers fails to respond to queries, those that do respond will be queried. This is especially important during a DNS DDoS Amplification Attack, when some servers may stop working, for example, due to the inability of the data center to handle the massive amount of traffic. During such attacks, other servers connected to the cloud network will respond to queries.

Modern attacks are designed in such a way that it's technically impossible to distinguish a hacker's DNS request from a regular user's, and it's impossible to filter requests. We've built the DNS system so that during DDoS attacks, we can process an unlimited number of requests without filtering. This is what allows us to cope with these attacks.

Unlike us, other companies deny certain requests or even block access from certain networks or countries during attacks. This can lead to complete domain shutdowns for legitimate users.

Speed of request processing

Individual parts of the cloud name servers are located on different continents in the world's best data centers, using equipment with SSD drives. All DNS queries are cached in memory for a certain period of time and are therefore processed at maximum speed. This means that after entering a domain name in the browser, the browser instantly receives the website's IP address and loads it immediately.

Let's draw conclusions

Conclusion 1.Even if one of our name servers suffers from a crash or attack, the other servers will continue to process DNS requests, and all our customers' domain names will continue to work.

Conclusion 2.We achieved high speed processing of user requests to name servers by hosting them on high-performance equipment in the world's best data centers.

Conclusion 3.As loads increase or attacks occur, the number of active servers increases dynamically across data centers in different countries, allowing us to cope with virtually any attack.
