Almost half of internet users use pirated software.
A report from the Business Software Alliance (BSA) found that 47% of all PCs worldwide have pirated software installed. This data was obtained from a survey of over 15,000 users.
Most often, users purchase counterfeit software on unlicensed disks, download programs from peer-to-peer networks, and, after purchasing a license for one installation, install it on several.
It is noteworthy that more than 70% of users support the observance of intellectual property principles.
The report's authors named China as the world's most pirated country, with pirated software installed on 86% of computers. Nigeria (81%), Vietnam (76%), Ukraine (69%), Malaysia (68%), Thailand (65%), and others followed.
Experts estimate that business losses from installing pirated software amount to $59 billion per year.
