The porn industry has spoken out against the .XXX domain zone.

Representatives of the pornography industry have filed a lawsuit against the administrator of the .XXX domain, ICM Registry, and the ICANN organization.

According to the plaintiffs, the creation of the .XXX domain extension is an example of unfair competition. Furthermore, representatives of companies operating in the pornography industry are dissatisfied with the excessively high prices for .XXX domains.

The lawsuit against ICM Registry was filed by the owners of the largest pornographic websites – Manwin Licensing and Digital Playground.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court of California. The lawsuit demands that the new domain be shut down, and if it is reopened later, it will be done under fair competition conditions and at reasonable prices.

The plaintiffs allege that ICANN and ICM Registry are guilty of "monopolistic conduct, price manipulation, anticompetitive and unfair practices that cause widespread harm to businesses and consumers by launching .XXX, a new top-level domain designated for adult content."

Adult industry companies believe ICM Registry pressured ICANN to approve the .XXX domain extension through aggressive litigation tactics.

In response to this, representatives of ICM Registry are prepared to decisively defend their position in court.

Let us recall that ICM Registry has been trying to open its domain zone for over ten years, since 2001.

Representatives of the porn industry believe that the new domain will make it easier to block pornographic resources and, thus, reduce the revenue of companies operating in this industry.
