Google projects are visited by more than a billion people.
In May of this year, Google's online properties were visited by over a billion people worldwide, according to comScore. This is the first time the giant has ever reached this milestone. Over the past year, the number of unique visitors to Google's resources has increased by 8.4%, from 931 million in May 2010 to 1.01 billion in May of this year.
The company saw the largest audience growth in South Africa and India, where user numbers increased by 13.5% and 14.3%, respectively. The smallest growth was in South Korea and China, at 0.7% and 0.8%.
Among companies, Microsoft took second place after Google. It has 905 million users, a 15% growth rate. Facebook came in third with 714 million users, a 30% growth rate. Fourth place went to Yahoo, with 689 million users, a 10.8% year-over-year growth rate. Yahoo had previously held third place until October of last year, but Facebook has since overtaken it.
