Cydia software developer claims cydia.com domain

Jay Freeman, the creator of Cydia, a software for installing additional software on iOS devices, is suing over the domain cydia.com.

Freeman filed a lawsuit against the owners of Cydia.com, accusing them of infringing the Cydia trademark. The Cydia app was created in 2008, and the cydia.com domain has belonged to its owners since 2002. However, after Cydia gained notoriety, the owner of the cydia.com domain changed the content of their site and turned it into a forum dedicated to Apple devices.

According to Freeman, many users perceive the cydia.com domain as part of his project, so it can be considered misleading and constitutes unfair use of the domain name. Therefore, Freeman believes the domain should be transferred to his company, Saurikit, LLC.
