Registrar REG.RU acquired the company "Clever Telecom"

At the end of 2010, a deal was made to purchase the company "Clever Telecom" by the domain name registrar REG.RU.

Earlier, in November 2010, REG.RU announced a strategic partnership agreement between the companies, marking the beginning of a fruitful collaboration. Together, the two registrars successfully launched open registration for the .РФ domain, doing everything possible to accommodate the maximum number of incoming Cyrillic domain registration requests from both REG.RU and Clover Telecom clients.

Back in the summer of 2010, Clever Telecom approached REG.RU, as a leading registrar, for support. The terms of the deal were finalized in October 2010. Over the course of several months, REG.RU completed all the necessary steps to close the deal, including an audit, settlements with counterparties, preparing the company's assets for purchase, and resolving other legal and organizational issues. On December 28, 2010, the final stage of the transaction took place. Clever Telecom was acquired for a nominal value of 10,000 rubles. As part of this transaction, REG.RU assumed obligations to repay the company's financial debt to service providers, counterparties, partners, and clients, as well as to service more than 40,000 users. In the first quarter of 2011, Clever Telecom, which is among the top 10 leading registrars, will undergo transformations aimed at further improving the company's market position. Plans include reorienting the company to a new target audience, introducing new services, improving customer service, and much more.

According to REG.RU CEO Alexey Korolyuk, REG.RU pursued two goals: maintaining stability in the domain name registration market and implementing REG.RU's strategic development program: "This transaction is the first of its kind within the Russian registrar market and, like the development of the .RU and .РФ national domain zones, demonstrates its active growth and investment attractiveness."
